PUNJAB CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM
PRMP has initiated
Punjab Capacity Building Program with the help of
funds available from World Bank. Under this program,
officers of government of the Punjab are being sent
for one year degree programs to universities
identified for this purpose. In this regard, PRMP
took the help from the list of universities/programs
identified by CSRU, Establishment Division,
Islamabad. PRMP also wrote to Secretaries of all
Administrative Departments for comments on this
identified list. They were also invited to propose
universities/ programs that may be relevant to their
department but have not been included in the list
identified by PRMP. Their input was received and
courses proposed by them were added to the already
identified list. Applications were invited from
interested candidates through advertising in the
local press. Women were given special preference.
A total of 74 officers applied for the scholarship.
One of the basic requirements of application was
that the officers should have a valid offer of
admission in one of the identified disciplines/
institutes. By applying these criteria, 43 officers
were short-listed and they were invited to appear
before the Capacity Development Interventions
Committee headed by the Chairman P&D Board,
Government of Punjab.
Finally, 15 Officers (List) have been selected by
Capacity Development Intervention Committee for the
year 2007-08 for Masters degree courses in the
universities of UK. They are going to leave by end
September to join their respective study programs.
